Weight Loss Surgery May Reduce Risk of Skin Cancer


New research has pointed to a link between bariatric surgery and a patient’s likelihood of developing squamous cell carcinoma and melanoma. Investigators of the study, which was published online ahead of print in JAMA Dermatology (Oct. 30, 2019), said that they undertook the research because of the establishment of obesity as a risk factor for developing melanoma.
