The 25th European Academy of Dermatology and Venereology (EADV) began Wednesday, Sept. 28, 2016 in Vienna and runs until Oct. 2.
The congress is being held at the Austria Centre Vienna, the largest conference centre in Vienna located in the heart of the city.
Keynote speaker Dr. Stephen Katz, director of the National Institute of Arthritis and Musculoskeletal and Skin Diseases in the U.S., will open the Congress with a lecture on “Dermatology 2016: If past is prologue,” followed by the movie, “Extracts from Planet You,” from the EMMY award winner Prof. Alfred Vendl of Austria, projecting the micro-life in and on human skin.
Other leading expert plenary lecturers include Prof. Martine Bagot from France with her talk on “New therapeutic perspectives in CTCL,” a lecture on “Skin barrier homeostasis and its failure in atopic dermatitis” from Dr. Masayuki Amagai of Japan, Dr. Tim Johnson from the U.S. focusing on “Melanoma sentinel node biopsy: Past, present and future in the new era of systemic therapies,” Prof. Tom Quinn of the U.S. tackling “The new threats of HIV and STIs” and Dr. Caroline Robert of France giving her views on “The advancing field of melanoma immunotherapy.”
The program will also include the René Touraine Foundation guest speaker, Prof. Martin Steinhoff (IE) providing the latest on “Neuroinflammation: Contradiction or reality?” as well as ESDR Plenary Lecturer Prof. Georg Stingl of Austria speaking on “Langerhans cells in health and disease.”
The congress incorporates plenary lectures, educational classes, review and update sessions, expert council and discussions of what’s new, spotlights, clinical cases from around Europe, free communications of selected abstracts, and more.
